A filled cart is the strongest buying intent a shop can see. Still, a large share of them end without an order — a phone call in between, a price comparison, a flat battery. A friendly reminder brings some of them back. What matters is that it's legally sound.
Every abandoned cart in one list
Abandoned carts collects every cart where someone added products without completing the order. For each one you see:
- the email address, the items with their details, and the cart value
- the status: active, abandoned, recovered or expired
- the timeline: captured, abandoned, reminder sent, recovered
- whether the restore link was clicked and whether consent was given
A cart only counts as recovered when an order arrives for the same email address that actually contains items from the saved cart. The dashboard shows the abandoned and the recovered value and the recovery rate.
Reminders by email or WhatsApp
The reminder goes out by email — or by WhatsApp if the customer entered a phone number at checkout. How and when reminders are sent is set up in the Automations menu. The restore link refills the cart; one click and the customer carries on shopping.
In the shop: checkbox and exit intent
On the shop side, customers get a checkbox at checkout to save their cart and receive reminders. If someone is about to leave with items still in the cart, an exit-intent pop-up asks for their email address. On WooCommerce, the InsightHub plugin captures the cart directly in the shop.
GDPR: only with explicit consent
Reminders only ever reach people who explicitly opted in. The exact wording of the consent is stored with the cart — you can always prove what was agreed to. With “consent required” switched on, carts without consent are counted but never contacted.
Which campaign originally brought a recovered customer in is shown afterwards in the Customers overview.
